About us
Ohio4Kids is a program of the Corporation for Ohio Appalachian Development. Helping parents choose child care and training individuals to open and operate a child care business is our work. Since 1993, we have been the Appalachian region's information hub for child care and education services for children.
Ohio4Kids is a child care resource and referral agency serving clients of all income levels. Our child care referrals are free within the 31 counties of Ohio which we serve. We maintain a list of nearly 2000 child care programs, including Head Start Programs, public pre-schools, child care centers, family child care homes, school age programs, and infant care programs. Ohio4Kids is part of a statewide network of child care resource and referral agencies, so if you live outside our service area call us and we can direct you to an agency near you. You can contact us at 800-577-2276.
Child care resource and referral agencies (CCR&R) help ensure that families in 99 percent of all populated ZIP codes in the United States have access to high-quality, affordable child care. To achieve that goal, we lead projects to increase the quality and availability of child care professionals, undertake research, and advocate for child care policies that improve the lives of children and families.
Our child care referral services were the first in Ohio to be nationally recognized as 'Quality Assured' by the National Association of Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies (NACCRRA). This designation, which we’ve held since 2002, is proof that families and providers can trust and depend on the services we provide.
NACCRRA is our nation's leading voice for child care and has been working to improve the system of early learning for children since 1987. We are a member of NACCRRA and provide the core services that all CCR&Rs offer to parents, child care providers and communities. NACCRRA works with more than 800 state and local child care resource and referral agencies nationwide.
We have also been a member of OCCRRA, the Ohio Child Care Resource & Referral Association since its inception.
Corporation for Ohio Appalachian Development (COAD)
COAD is a private, non-profit, community-based organization serving rural, mostly Appalachian, counties in eastern and southern Ohio. It is comprised of seventeen community action agencies that serve a 31 county area. COAD has three major program divisions: community development, early care and education, and senior programs. COAD also offers scholarship assistance and leadership development opportunities.
COAD's mission is to provide a unified voice and representation for its member agencies and the constituents that they serve--primarily low-income families, children, and the elderly. Since 1971, COAD has worked to improve the quality of life for all residents of Appalachian Ohio.
